Common, But Rarely Discussed Bias In Promotion Committees
When promotion committees come together, they might fall into a common bias because of these three core issues: participants in calibration meetings may feel the need to make a perceived contribution, especially when the "big boss" is present, many middle managers and senior leaders operate under the misconception that one cannot excel in both strategy and execution, and decision-making of this nature has a tendency to discourage individuals from taking action that would be beneficial to the company.
