Work is hard. People will latch onto anything to avoid doing it.

On Being Too Early
Henry Ford banned his workers from documenting new ideas that didn’t work, because he feared it would create a list of things people refused to try again even when new technologies improved their chances of success.
Marc Andreessen explained how this has worked in tech: “All of the ideas that people had in the 1990s were basically all correct. They were just early.”

If your view of the world is that people use reason for their important decisions, you are setting yourself up for a life of frustration and confusion.
You’ll find yourself continually debating people and never winning except in your own mind.
Few things are as destructive and limiting as a worldview that assumes people are mostly rational.
