I need your help
A few changes to make this newsletter more valuable for you, and more sustainable for me.
This newsletter is giving me great joy. Every time I work on a new issue and I dedicate time to reflecting on my favorite topics, I type with a big smile on my face.
And you, my dear reader, bring me joy as well. The countless replies, comments, references, questions, and requests I regularly receive from you make me very happy.
I answer to everyone because if you take the time to formulate a question, I’m happy to dedicate my time to provide you with an answer. As simple as that.
This newsletter started as an exercise, and the Tuesday Dispatch, a curated collection of external resources, was born with no particular strategy.
It has been running strong for over 110 (a hundred and ten!) issues, and I have no plan to stop it.
The Thursday Memo was born a few months ago to provide more premium content for those who awarded this newsletter with a paid subscription. But creating long-form essays every week is hard.
I did a few experiments to make it easier. I tried getting my essays drafted by ChatGPT, but in a few weeks, I dropped the experiment. You don’t deserve that type of content. Way too many outlets rely on those tools for their content. If you decide to follow my newsletter, I promise you get original content straight from yours truly.
I also tried a few things to improve the conversion rates of my paid subscribers. I tried different paywall strategies in my essays and referenced my premium essays in the Tuesday Dispatch with the same hope. Both experiments brought disappointing results.
Recently, I got a few messages from people unsubscribing from this newsletter. Surprisingly, they shared a common indication: “I don’t have time to read all your content, so I prefer to put my sub on hold.”
Wow, I did not expect that. So, I spent some time reflecting, and honestly, I now get it.
When I look at my content consumption, the newsletters that are delivered more often than once a week, I rarely read them. Life is too short to read super verbose newsletters.
Considering all of the above, I’m making a few changes, starting now:
I’ll evolve the Tuesday Dispatch to make it even more compelling.
I’m suspending the Thursday Memos, at least until the end of the year. I might post a few essays, but without any commitment, at least for now.
I’m opening the whole archive. If you missed something that used to live behind the paywall, read it now!
I need your help!
There are a few questions you can answer to help me improve this newsletter. Answer in the comments, or hit reply:
Plus: What am I doing well in this newsletter that you love?
Minus: What am I doing not-so-well that you don’t like and I should change or stop doing?
Delta: What would you recommend I should do differently going forward?
I’ll listen to your feedback and implement those changes to make me start 2024 with a bang.
If you made it so far, it means that you care. Thank you so much!
I look forward to hearing from you!
